Opening with a psychedelic yellow background, ‘Well Wishes My Love, Your Love’ immediately takes us down the path of the experimental. Spiced with high-pitched atmospheric music, giving pride of place to the synths, the film offers beautiful variations on the landscape it builds. It transports us into a dreamlike universe close to a video game, inviting us into an active meditation. Although the animation plays with virtuality, the overall universe is firmly rooted in a lived reality. Each landscape is offered to our eyes as a reproduction of the world, as a naturalistic painting saturated in colors and distorted by the ripples moving around the main character that we follow in his enigmatic quest.
Konstakademien Gabriel Gabriel Garble's animated film ‘Well Wishes My Love, Your Love’ describes a world where no solar eclipse is total, where everything forms an empathetic whole in symbiosis. People, animals, nature and objects. A universe of lines – a single movement, and history heads in a new direction. With the greatest sensitivity to color, light, tempo and action, the film transcends its medium and becomes a phenomenological look at life.

There is something so amazingly alive about Garble’s film. This can feel surprising because the animation is abstract, constructed of sharp lines with psychedelic colors that flow beautifully into each other. It shouldn’t feel so realistic, yet each moment presents like a naturalistic painting. The colors and forms are perfectly composed. Yet the life in the film comes from the fact that every movement is a literal ripple through the frame every time something moves along the frame, like water when the boy travels through the landscape. Garble creates a world where everything is one whole and where nothing is “other”. This in itself feels touching in the sense that people with prosthetic limbs risk feeling “othered” in their community. However, as the film depicts, their disability aids belong to the world around them just like anything else does.

SYNOPSIS
Newly orphaned and freshly wounded from a loss, a boy lends his companion a prosthetic arm for the day. The companion would then expose the prosthetic limb to different textures and materials, documenting the process. As the moon inches closer and closer towards the sun, the boy sees something unusual reflected on the water's surface... What will become of the limb, and of the video recordings?

Come, be present with the boy, and join him on his journey where you’ll get to discover the immanence of trees… birds… bee... laundry… and find out what the boy does with all his GoPro footage.

coming-of-age, non-verbal
